What is Intercession?

Intercession is the action of intervening on behalf of another. It is the prayer that pleads with God for our needs and the needs of others. Intercession is a prayer on behalf of a person, a region or nation of people. God will burden the heart of an intercessor to pray for particular circumstances. Isaiah 59:16 is a perfect example, it is written: "He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; and His own righteousness, it sustained Him. (NKJV) God was looking for an intercessor to intercede on behalf of the nation of Israel a nation that was looked upon as rebellious by God. Today the God of Abraham, Jacob and Isaac is looking for the same. If God has called you to the ministry of intercessor, it is time to take your position and intercede for that which concerns the heart of the Father.
